Bio

Growing up in Innsbruck, Austria, Max Glanz discovered his passion for saxophone and composition in his teenage years. Following his education in music school, he pursued a Bachelor's degree in Artistic Performance Jazz-Saxophone. He commenced his studies at Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz under the mentorship of Harry Sokal and completed his degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, studying with Julian Argüelles and Heinrich von Kalnein.In 2019, Max Glanz founded his own band Origina1Nerd. Playing his original compositions, they released their debut album, "Unknown Error," in 2022. The album received highly positive reviews and was praised by critics. In the same year, he was awarded the Tyrolian Youth Jazz Prize in recognition of his work with Origina1Nerd and other projects like HoneyPie and AR Project.Furthermore, Max Glanz was involved in projects with the Tyrolian Jazz Orchestra and the international CHAUD 19 Project. Apart from composing, performing and touring with different bands he also co-organized the first KUG OEH Jazz Festival as well as various jam sessions throughout the city of Graz.In 2020 he established a transcription channel on YouTube with a variety of different transcribed soli and songs.

Projects

Origina1Nerd - the name of the band can be traced back to the past of each band member since they not only share a common affinity for music, but also for various technical and nerdy matters. Now in the union of the five young musicians the goal was set to compose, arrange and present unique music.The result of this process is their debut album "Unknown Error", a mixture of harmonic concepts and improvisation of jazz, compositional as well as rhythmic elements of progressive rock, emulsified with the help of a wide range of sounds of electronic music. Therefore, the term Progressive Jazz seemed to be appropriate.Their work on "Unknown Error" also was acknowledged by the Jury of Ton Art Tirol bestowing the band and its musical leader Max Glanz with the Tyrolian Youth Jazz Award 2022.

HONEYPIE is the honeycomb-shaped space that drummer Max Schrott has built for himself together with musicians from the area of Austria.HONEYPIE plays instrumental jazz that sets itself no stylistic boundaries. Founded in the spring of 2021, the music aims to impress less through complexity than through expression and making music as a collective. The idea of a collective is also expressed in the line-up, which always wants to remain variable.The program consists mostly of compositions out their own feather but there are also arrangements of pieces by such diverse acts as the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble or The Kinks.

Previous Projects

AR Project is a newly founded formation that combines rhythm section with a two-part unit of vocals and sax. Each member of the quintet enriches the compositions and ideas of bassist Anna Reisigl in an individual way - thus music is created that offers room for improvisation and is built on complex rhythmic pattern and odd meter.
